ENSET presents NEXIS, a new range of horizontal balancing machines for production and repair facilities.
Depending on the configuration, the machines are designed for rotors weighing from 0.5 to 600 kg and can be configured to suit rotor dimensions, drive type, operating speed range, and unbalance correction technology.
NEXIS is built around a new support and oscillating system design, a precision machine bed, digitally controlled servo drives, and fifth-generation measuring electronics.
These solutions are designed to improve balancing accuracy and measurement repeatability, reduce changeover time, and expand the range of balancing applications.
Accuracy and Repeatability
NEXIS incorporates a new rotor support and oscillating system design together with new vibration transducers.
The combination of these solutions improves balancing accuracy and the repeatability of readings across consecutive runs. Under production conditions, this reduces the number of verification runs and makes the balancing cycle more predictable.
The new platform also expands the range of applications.
NEXIS is available in versions for rotors weighing up to 60, 300, and 600 kg and is designed to operate over a wide speed range.
The maximum rotor diameter in the standard configuration is 1,100 mm. Where required, this parameter can be increased on request.
Precision Machine Bed and Easy Changeover
The supports move along two precision linear guideways installed over the full length of the machine bed.
This arrangement simplifies commissioning and ensures stable system geometry throughout the entire working range.
The new support mechanism prevents play, misalignment, and binding during movement. The support moves smoothly into the required position and is secured using a single handle with minimal effort.
This reduces the effort required for changeovers, particularly in production areas handling a wide range of rotor types.
The wiring is protected by a system of cable carriers and cable trays.
The control console is connected to the machine by two cable assemblies housed in a rugged corrugated conduit and fitted with heavy-duty Harting industrial connectors.
This simplifies machine installation and servicing while reducing the risk of cable damage.
Fifth-Generation Measuring Electronics
NEXIS is equipped with the VIBROLAB-5.K modular crate-based measuring system.
Its modular architecture allows the machine’s functionality to be expanded without replacing the base electronics: additional modules can be installed in dedicated slots.
This approach simplifies future upgrades, including the installation of unbalance correction and laser runout measurement modules, rotor marking and identification systems, and other Industry 4.0 functions.
The VIBROLAB-5 measuring system is included in the Russian State Register of Measuring Instruments under Registration No. 97688-26.
The verification interval is three years.
The control console is equipped with a 24-inch Iiyama touchscreen display (Japan), adjustable for both height and viewing angle.
A work surface beneath the monitor provides space for weighing scales, tools, or a printer for balancing reports.
Controls and auxiliary equipment are within easy reach of the operator.
Digitally Controlled Servo Drives
Servo motors with digital control are used in all NEXIS drive configurations.
They provide controlled acceleration and braking, automatic rotor indexing to the correction position with accuracy of up to 0.1°, and automatic holding of the rotor in the required position while the correction operation is performed.
Three drive options are available for different rotor types:
- Belt drive (B) is available either in a conventional configuration with a wrap-around belt and pneumatic tensioning or in a tangential configuration. The choice of drive arrangement makes it possible to accommodate rotor geometry and torque transmission requirements.
- End drive (E) is equipped with a handwheel for longitudinal movement of the drive spindle and a pneumatic brake. This configuration is intended for rotors where torque is transmitted through an end connection.
- Spindle drive (D) features increased axial rigidity of both the drive and non-drive spindle supports. This solution is intended primarily for balancing heavy driveshafts and reduces deformation of the system under load.
Configuration for a Specific Rotor Range
The modular design of NEXIS allows the machine to be configured according to the characteristics of the rotors and the company’s production process.
The range includes:
- three load-capacity versions — up to 60, 300, and 600 kg
- five machine bed lengths — 1,500, 2,000, 3,000, 4,500, and 6,000 mm
- seven types of support equipment: cantilevered support rollers, narrow roller assemblies for short journals, negative force rollers, V-type roller assemblies, low-friction sliding supports, tooling for small rotors, and tooling for magnetic rotors
Optional equipment may include protective enclosures in various configurations in accordance with ISO 21940-23:2012, drilling and resistance spot welding modules for unbalance correction, mechanical heavy rotor loading systems, and a laser module for radial and axial runout measurement.
Availability of individual options depends on the model and selected configuration.
Applications
NEXIS machines are designed for balancing shafts, fan and pump impellers, electric motor rotors, turbines, driveshafts, flywheels, and other rotating components.
The equipment can be used:
- in power equipment manufacturing
- by oil and gas companies
- in metallurgy
- in general machinery and instrument manufacturing
- in specialised service and repair centres
The combination of several load-capacity options, machine bed lengths, support types, and drive configurations makes NEXIS a suitable platform both for specialised applications and for production areas handling a wide variety of rotors.
Machine Selection and Technical Support
The machine configuration is selected according to rotor mass and dimensions, the type of rotor support surfaces, required operating speeds, the method of torque transmission, the correction technology, and the required throughput of the balancing shop.
ENSET provides a two-year warranty on all machine assemblies and components.
Remote diagnostics and cunfiguration help accelerate equipment commissioning and provide technical support during operation.
The specified service life of the machine is 20 years.
